Remarkable woman: Claudia Schiffer

Claudia Schiffer was born in 1970 in the suburbs of Düsseldorf, Germany. She grew up in a happy and wealthy family with two brothers and a sister. In her teen years, Claudia was a shy girl and she felt uncomfortable with her skinny body and her above average height. She was never the hottest girl in class and even though she had friends, she always felt different from everybody else.

At the age of 17, she was surprised when a model scout approached while she was out with friends in Düsseldorf. She never thought of herself as being model-material, but she went to Paris for a try-out shoot anyway. Her modesty shines through one of her famous quotes: “After I was discovered, and did the test shots, I was sure that they would realize they had made a mistake and send me back.” It turned out that there was no mistake at all. It did not take long before Karl Lagerfeld selected the pretty blonde to be the face of Chanel.  She currently holds the record for the supermodel starring on the most magazine covers (over 900!).

What started as an insecure girl, blossomed to be one of the most successful models in the world. Yes, she had her looks going for her, but it was her hard work and discipline that made her successful. And somehow, at the age of 43 and after having two kids, she manages to still look amazing. Caludia Schiffer is an inspiration and a truly remarkable woman.
